Handmade seed paper allows for a variety of planting throughout the year!

Manually screen printed with water-based ink that’s safe for consumption by people as well as the planet.

Each tabloid-sized page of this calendar is handmade with recycled materials such as egg cartons and junk mail. During the process, each page has been infused with real seeds that are plantable at the end of each month. Just peel off the perforated piece below each illustration when the month is over, and place in dirt to promote sustainability while preserving the artwork. You can plant these very intentionally in your own plot of land, share them with friends who would also enjoy planting with ease, or randomly bury the seed-infused paper in a public space that is capable of naturally nurturing native plants.

The illustrations are manually screen printed with water-based ink, which is non-toxic and safe for your garden. Each month depicts it’s respective seed as the head of a human in order to personify nature as a relatable, living being. As humans, we often disregard life other than our own by damaging the earth with deforestation and factory farming. By planting this calendar, you will take part in restoring the ecosystem in which you live. Birds, bees and butterflies will appreciate your efforts as you strive to maintain the environment that keeps them thriving. Additionally, growing your own produce will cut out consumption of some factory farmed goods you would typically otherwise buy at the supermarket.

Process

Paper-making is a process that recycles shredded paper to make new sheets of paper. This emphasizes the texture and weight of the paper, as no two are exactly alike. Making your own paper allows for the color and contents to be easily controlled. Not only does this process promote sustainability, but it also adds a personal touch to the project through it’s hand-crafted quality.

Silk screening is a manual printing process in which each layer is printed individually. The ink is pulled through a screen to transfer the image one layer at a time. With this method, it is possible to control the print on the textured handmade paper, while also limiting the chemicals that make contact with the plantable paper.
